Providence Canyon Series
Inspired by nature’s elemental energies, this series is an ecological, philosophical, and personal commentary on human nature, culture, and the physical world, grounded in the story of Georgia’s Providence Canyon, a canyon created in part by farm-runoff erosion in the 19th century. In these quilts, I’ve layered photographic images of these extraordinary land formations with images of iconic artifacts of human culture—the decaying 1950’s automobiles that were abandoned on the ridge of the canyon. These pieces are also reveries on desire, creativity, aging, and mortality.
